Samson receives millions for water infrastructure

SAMSON, Ala. — After more than a decade of efforts to secure federal funding for critical water infrastructure, the City of Samson is set to receive $1.8 million through the 2026 federal appropriations bill.

The funding, supported by Congressman Barry Moore, will be used to improve Samson’s aging water system, including replacing water wells that are more than 50 years old and bringing additional water capacity online.

Specific locations for the improvements have not yet been finalized, as the project remains in the early planning stages. The overall goal is to strengthen the reliability of Samson’s water system, improve water pressure, and provide opportunities to extend clean water service to additional areas.

In addition to the $1.8 million, U.S. Senator Katie Britt has helped secure another $2.2 million for water infrastructure needs in Samson.

Combined, the two awards represent approximately $4 million in funding for improvements to the city’s water infrastructure.

The investments are particularly significant for a community of Samson’s size. Over the last two years, the city has received approximately $11 million in grant funding for projects and improvements.

The latest funding will allow Samson to continue addressing aging infrastructure, improve the reliability and quality of its water system, and prepare for future growth and expansion.
